FAQs Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions Page (FAQs). Do any of the following questions sound like yours? If so, just click on the question to receive an answer. If your question is not here, please send us an email at violets@avsc.ca stating your question. One of us will answer you as soon as possible, but it may take a few days. We are all volunteers and are sometimes not available when you submit the question. Q. Where do I find a membership application for the African Violet Society of Canada? A. In each copy of our Chatter magazine or on this web site. Just go to the Join AVSC page. Q. Where do I find news about your Convention? How do I register? A. Most of the advance Convention information is found in the October-December issue of our Chatter magazine each year. Information for the 2009 Convention will be posted on this web site in the late fall of 2008. Q. Is there a local African violet club in my town? A. A complete list of all the local societies affiliated with AVSC should tell you the answer. Just go to the Local Affiliates page. Q. How do I subscribe to Chatter magazine? A. Joining AVSC as a member makes you a subscriber. Go to the Join AVSC page to obtain information and find the application. Q. Is there an African violet show in my town? A. Most of our local affiliate societies have at least one show annually. AVSC has a major show in conjunction with each annual convention. Go to our Coming Events page. Q. Where can I buy good African violets? A. A number of commercial growers who sell to the public belong to AVSC as Commercial Members. Go to the Commercial Members page to find names, addresses, etc. Q. How do you grow good African violets? A. A big question! A good grower follows general guidelines for the culture of African violets. Start at our About African Violets page for all sorts of information on African violets. You can also go directly to our Culture page to get into the guidelines for temperature, soil, fertilizer, etc.
